It may still be spring, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start planning for a summer vacation. In fact, if you enjoy taking a survey as part of Vacasa's Summer Travel Trends report, you're probably looking for a beach house to relax in.

According to the survey, there are three main places for those who want to rent a vacation home in the United States. The three most popular summer destinations based on a Vacasa.com search are billing dates for June, July and August 2022 for Ocean City, Maryland, Destin (Florida) and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. And that's according to a Vasaca poll that people are looking for a vacation this year as well.

The survey found that 63% of Americans are planning a summer vacation, compared to 59% last summer. These summer vacations are also getting longer and longer (hence the interest in vacation home rentals). According to the company, most travelers (52%) plan long weekend getaways as part of their summer travel plans, but many take a vacation: 38% travel for five or seven days and 20% for more than a week. Millennials are the generation that prefers shorter vacations, whether it's a short vacation, a two-night vacation (39%) or a long weekend trip (64%).

As for the places people want to go, apart from identifying the top three destinations for their summer homes in 2022, according to the survey, three out of four travelers (74%) plan to keep their summer trips this year and the remaining 26%. . Travelers plan international trips even if they don't travel long distances. Most respondents who had traveled abroad said that international plans were likely to bring them to Canada and/or Mexico.
