A hot summer is waiting to book flights to major destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and America.

MANILA, Philippines, April 22, 2022 / PRNewswire / - The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and its partner ForwardKeys predict that global international flight bookings will skyrocket as international travel begins.

Reservations for this year's prestigious 21st WTTC World Summit in Manila have been announced as the world is reopening in the wake of the epidemic.

News of a strong recovery highlights the prospect of a promising summer vacation, with sunny beach destinations like the Caribbean and Latin America topping international bookings.

According to Forwardkiss, a leading travel and analytics firm, including Costa Rica, Aruba, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, the country ranks among the top 20 summer destinations, all of which rely on international travel.

These trends are driven by orders that are outside the pre-epidemic level.

The gradual recovery of the industry last year was significantly slower due to the increase in omicron transmission. However, with positive booking data from around the world, the future looks brighter in 2022.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President and CEO: “ForwardKeys WTTC 2022 booking data is a strong sign of strong recovery in the global travel and tourism sector.

"Travel in the Asia-Pacific region is showing signs of impressive growth as it gradually opens up its destinations to visitors in line with customer demand."

Olivier Ponty, vice president of Forwardkiz Insights, said: "It is very encouraging to finally open up Asia, which will lead to a revival of travel in both Asia and the region, which will play a key role in helping the global economy recover."

According to the data, figures for the first quarter and second quarter of this year show a three-digit increase in flight bookings from around the world, including last year, including the United States, Europe and Asia.

With restrictions eased in 2022 due to growing demand for luxury cabins, travelers want to spend more on travel. Other notable trends include last minute tight bookings.

Another proof of the growth of tourism is the tour of Europe, where the number of international arrivals increased by 350% in the first quarter of 2022, compared to last year.

In the Asia-Pacific region, the number of flights increased in the first quarter of this year compared to 2021, with bookings in the region increasing by 275%.

In the second quarter, we see further acceleration of the current recovery, with significant growth in international orders, up 264% over the previous year.

This acceleration is particularly noticeable in Asia, where travel bans have been lifted. The Philippines, host of the WTTC World Summit, the fastest growing destination in Southeast Asia, grew 29% year on year in the second quarter.

The summer travel outlook is associated with a resurgence of Caribbean and Latin American travel, with seven of the top 10 travel destinations.

India and Pakistan are also very popular, mainly because of traveling with family and friends.

Already in Europe, destinations such as Iceland, Greece, Portugal, Spain and France are seeing a strong resurgence as travel bookings lag behind epidemic levels.

Africa and the Middle East are among the top 20 countries on pre-epidemic travel routes, including Tanzania, Qatar and Egypt.

The sustainable recovery of the Asia-Pacific travel and tourism sector will be accelerated by the gradual re-opening of the road in 2022.
