Las Vegas was the most popular holiday destination, with one of the cheapest hotel rooms averaging just $172 a night. It was followed by New Orleans, which came in second with recognition. Hotel rooms are a bit more expensive here, averaging $390 per night.
One of the best summer travel destinations in general, Orlando ranks third on the list due to its many theme parks and freshwater lakes. The average cost of a hotel room in Orlando is $213 per night while on vacation.
The most popular are the major cities of Chicago and New York, where the average price per night is $249 and $263, respectively.
Although Las Vegas is one of the most accessible places to visit on weekends, there are other amazing places in the country that are easy to get to. In fact, according to Priceline, Dallas was the most expensive destination as of July 4, with room rates as low as $133.
Next comes Houston, a native of Texas, with an average price per night of $135, and Charlotte, North Carolina, with an average price per night of $148.
When it comes to international travel (loosened after the US removed pre-arrival testing rules), Europe has taken the lead, with London the most popular destination. They were followed by Paris, Rome and Barcelona. As a result, Montreal finished fifth on the list.
