Michigan Travel Website Offers Bestkept Secret Destinations, Kayaking Trip Giveaway
My Michigan Beach, the state's largest independent travel information site, this month partnered with Clear Water Kayaks to offer a six-person, three-hour Torch Lake kayak tour with lunch at Short's Brewing Co.
“Summer in Michigan is the best place to go and one of the most beautiful places is Lake Torch,” said Jill Halpin, founder and chef of My Michigan Beach. “Gliding in a light kayak with friends through the crystal blue waters of Mashal Lake is the perfect way to spend a hot summer day.”
Clear Water Kayaks offers private tours and is the only open-air kayak shop that delivers to all of Traverse City's lakes: Torch Lake, Deer Lake, and Leelanau.
Halpin said interest in outdoor activities has increased over the past two years, with people exploring Michigan's many lakes.
Torch Lake Breakfast and Logo Groups are being asked to share their favorite lake in Michigan for a chance to win. Michigan Beach I will collect the answers and share them online.
“We love sharing well-kept secrets, encouraging people to travel to Michigan, sharing information about all the great things and things to do in our state,” Halpin said.
Based in Plymouth, the site is dedicated to providing the best places to travel in Michigan, travel inspiration, and information on things to do in Michigan.
In just three years, the site was visited by 200,000 people a month.

“I grew up spending summers on the Michigan coast, swimming, swimming and splashing on the beach, and I take for granted how beautiful it is,” Halpin said. "It's a lot of fun, I'd say it's the best thing I've ever done."
In late 2019, Halpin created a website to share the wonders of Michigan with the world, especially after many friends from overseas commented on how beautiful her photographs were.

“I have experience as a librarian and journalist so I took some coding lessons and really got into web design and information architecture and I used that experience and created this website and it really exploded, it was amazing,” said Halpin. .
The interactive beach websites and travel maps make My Michigan Beach stand out from the crowd, she says.
“We really try and care about giving users everything they need to know and making it easy for them to quickly and efficiently find the information they need,” Halpin said.
Halpin has areas for dogs and accessible places where possible. This website has a team of authors and experts who update the information several times a day.
“We have everything from how to explore the Upper Peninsula ice caves to the best beaches in metro Detroit,” says Halpin. "There's so much to do in Michigan and it's so fun to share it with everyone."
Frequently, My Michigan Beach partners with resorts, wineries, and other local Michigan businesses to distribute travel gifts to promote travel and tourism in Michigan.
The ski race is open to US citizens aged 21 and over.
