Greyhounds Parent Flix SE Plants North American Operations In Dallas, Makes CSuite Moves
The bus line's parent company is looking to strengthen its North American operations in Dallas after buying the popular Greyhound last year.
Flix SE, the Dallas-based mobility company that owns Greyhound bus service and FlixBus, has announced the creation of Flix North America to oversee the two companies' operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He also announced a new C-suite lineup.
"Last year's acquisition of Greyhound was a big step forward for Flix, expanding into both brands has helped deliver part of our growth strategy to build our global presence," said Andre Schuymelin, founder and CEO of Flix SE. At Flix North America, we will continue to leverage the synergy between the two brands to provide consumers with a more efficient, convenient, cost-effective, intelligent and sustainable transportation solution."
Kadeer Boysan has been named CEO in addition to other transitions in the leadership teamThe CEO of the new entity is Kadir "Kai" Boysan, who has worked with Flix since 2019, after the company bought Turkish bus service Kamil Koç. Previously, Boysan worked as a manager at private equity firm Actera Group.
Additionally, Nathan Oujezdsky, former Vice President of Commercial Finance at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer, Bill Blankenship will continue as CEO of Greyhound, and Bill Blankenship will continue with Flix North America will continue the position of president
Dave Leech is a former Greyhound executive who joined the company as a baggage handler in 1986 and took the top job in 2017, retiring at the end of the year. Until then, Flex said Leach will remain with the company as a strategic advisor.
Cork van den Handel, Greyhound's former CFO, will also step down.
"I look forward to seeing the future innovations this new entity will bring to the intercity bus industry and our ability to better serve communities across the United States," Leach said in a prepared statement.
Flix was worth more than $3 trillion last yearGermany's Flix bought Greyhound for $172 million from UK-based FirstGroup Plc in October, following a $650 million G-Series funding round, valuing Flix at more than $3 trillion. TechCrunch says at the time Flix was exploring pricing, routing and timing algorithms for bus travel to help passengers find innovative, affordable and eco-friendly ways to travel.
Flix North America said it has more than 2,500 destinations in its network.
