New Report From WTTC And JLL Outlines Global Cities' Preparedness For Sustainable Travel & Tourism Growth
WTTC and JLL recently published "Access 2030 ፡ Preparing Global Cities for Sustainable Tourism Growth"
LONDON AND CHICAGO, April 20, 2022 (PRNewswire) - The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTC) and JLL today released a major new report examining what makes a city better for travel and tourism development.
The 2030 Report on Preparing World Cities for Sustainable Tourism Development was released at the 21st DWCC International Conference in Manila, Philippines.
Prior to the outbreak, the travel and tourism industry dominated the world economy for a decade, growing 4.3% year-on-year. Compared to 2.9% in 2019, the global economy grew by nearly 9.2 billion in the same year.
After the epidemic subsides, the global travel and tourism industry is finally seeing signs of recovery. As the industry has grown, the slowdown in global travel has created new challenges and created opportunities for policy makers, guides and stakeholders to improve performance preparedness.
Also known as Destination 2030, the report examines the city's readiness for sustainable travel and tourism. In each destination, 63 cities around the world are surveyed and divided into one of the five "levels of readiness" for the growth of the sustainable tourism business.
"Travel and tourism play an important role in the urban economy, which will not only increase GDP, but will also create jobs and improve the lives of those who depend on our industry," said Julia Simpson, president and CEO of the WTC.
We are delighted to continue our partnership with JLL, focusing on sustainability in our first report published in 2019.
"For a city to truly thrive, stakeholders need to be aware of how well the city is prepared for its anticipated growth in tourism and the challenges and opportunities it will bring."
The word "readiness" has affected the entire hospitality and tourism industry, said Gilda Perez-Alvarado, CEO of Global, JELL Hotels and Hospitality. "The growth and planning of a country, region or destination will affect the financial health of the tourism industry. These include asset value, tax revenues and human resource development."
Dan Fenton, Director of the Global Tourism and Destination Development Service, added:, JLL Hotels and Hospitality. "Our industry should be a leader in any indicator that includes the index."
According to the Innovation Report, "levels of preparedness" vary from infrastructure to tourist centers to established tourist centers. It then discusses the current opportunities and challenges of cities and provides recommendations for the establishment and maintenance of tourism businesses.
Although the five types of theology require different evolutionary approaches, any type of typography is not superior to all others, and all must be active in strategic planning and goal-level implementation.
Preparation categories were determined by analyzing data from 79 candidates in eight columns. In addition to the six pillars of the previous report - Border, Focus, Entertainment, Commerce, Urban Preparation and Political Priority - two new pillars have been added - Environmental Readiness and Safety.
These additions still focus on sustainability, social impact and safety, in combination with the common indicators that govern the sector.
The outbreak underlines the importance of an overview in planning and managing travel destinations. The importance of the drivers of urban success is unimaginable, so commitment to future destinations is paramount.
