Governments around the world have begun to ease entry restrictions on the coronavirus to attract tourists during the height of the Easter holidays.

Travel companies and tourists alike have welcomed the offer as the global travel industry has been hit hard by the pandemic over the past couple of years.

Holidays abroad are in high demand because the rules are loosened. However, passengers should be aware that exact restrictions still vary from country to country, so it's important to understand the rules for your chosen destination.

Millions of people across the UK travel long distances or look forward to the much needed Easter break in the sun.

Here are current travel directions for some of the most popular vacation destinations families will visit during the school holidays, Staffordshire Life reports.

Fully vaccinated people can enter Spain without quarantine. You will be asked to provide proof of vaccination upon arrival and must have received the latest regular dose of the Covid vaccine at least 14 days prior to travel.

However, if you received the last regular dose of the vaccine more than 270 days before your trip to Spain, you will need to take a booster dose to be considered completely immune. It is not necessary to wait 14 days after receiving the booster dose to travel to Spain.

Children under the age of 12 are exempt from testing and vaccinating in Spain. People aged 12-17 can enter Spain if they have evidence of a negative PCR test done within 72 hours of arriving in the country.

People who have not been fully vaccinated but have recovered from Covid in the past six months can enter Spain for tourism purposes. According to Birmingham Live, Spanish border authorities will require a medical certificate or recovery file.

France

If you have been fully vaccinated, you can enter France by showing a vaccination certificate at the border. However, you should wait at least seven days after the last vaccine dose (or 28 days for Janssen) before traveling.

Also, if your last regular vaccine dose is more than nine months old, you will need to take a booster dose to be considered completely immune. If not, you must follow the entry rules that apply to unvaccinated people.

People who have not been fully vaccinated can now travel to France if they can show a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of travel or a negative LC test result 48 hours before departure.

Persons under the age of 12 are exempt from Covid-related travel restrictions in France. People between the ages of 12 and 18 are subject to the same rules as vaccinated and unvaccinated immigrants, depending on their vaccination status.

Portugal

Fully vaccinated people can enter mainland Portugal provided they can present proof of vaccination upon arrival. You should have received the last regular dose of the vaccine at least 14 days in advance and no more than 270 days before your arrival in Portugal.

United States of America

Most fully vaccinated people can enter the United States for tourism purposes. Fully vaccinated arrivals do not need to be quarantined upon arrival, although it is recommended that they be tested for Covid within three to five days of entering the country.

However, if you can prove that you have recovered from the coronavirus in the past 90 days, there is no need to get tested within three to five days, regardless of your vaccination status.

Foreigners are not allowed into the United States unless they are vaccinated. This includes, with the exception of a few exceptional cases, people who have tested positive for Covid and have recovered in the past year.

Children under 17 are exempt from the vaccination obligation. People 2 years of age and older are not required to take a test before traveling to the United States.

Malta

If you have been fully vaccinated and received the last regular dose of vaccine at least 14 days in advance, you can enter Malta with proof of vaccination on arrival. Malta's border authorities will receive NHS Covid permits.

As of April 11, people who have not been fully vaccinated will be able to enter Malta without having to be quarantined for 14 days, as was the case before. However, they must be able to provide evidence that the PCR test is negative no later than 72 hours prior to arrival.

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 can travel to Malta provided they have tested negative for PCR at least 72 hours prior to their arrival. People under the age of five are exempt from vaccination and children aged 12 to 18 are subject to the same rules as adults, depending on their vaccination status.

Dubai

Fully vaccinated people do not need to be tested before leaving for Dubai. People with a recovery certificate issued within 30 days prior to departure, children under the age of 12 and people with severe disabilities can enter Dubai even without preliminary tests.

Turkey

If you are fully vaccinated, you can enter Turkey without being quarantined. You must wait at least 14 days after your second vaccine dose to travel and you must provide proof of full vaccination when you arrive in Turkey.

People who have not been fully vaccinated will need a negative PCR test result that takes no more than 72 hours before admission, a lateral flow that takes no more than 24 hours before admission, or a recent recovery test from coronavirus to enter Turkey.

If you have not been fully vaccinated but recovered from COVID in the past six months, you can travel to Turkey. The Turkish border authorities will ask you to provide proof of a positive PCR test result that is more than 14 days old and no more than six months old. Children under the age of 11 are exempt from testing and vaccinations in Turkey.

Greece

Fully vaccinated UK travelers can enter Greece by showing a valid vaccination certificate, evidence of recent recovery from Covid or by showing a negative test result. PCRs obtained within 72 hours or collateral streams obtained within 24 hours were accepted.

To be considered completely immune in Greece, you must have received your second regular dose of the vaccine at least 14 days in advance and no more than nine months before travel. If your last regular dose is more than nine months old, you will need a booster injection. Unvaccinated people can enter Greece by showing a negative PCR test result up to 72 hours prior to arrival, a lateral flow test confirmed by an accredited laboratory up to 24 hours prior or a certificate confirming recent recovery from the virus.

Children under the age of five do not need to take a test before traveling to Greece. However, those five years or more that have not been fully vaccinated must follow the same rules as unvaccinated adults.

Cyprus

If you have been fully vaccinated, you can enter Cyprus with a valid vaccination certificate. You should have received the last regular dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before travel.

Unvaccinated persons 12 years of age and older must have a negative PCR test result at least 72 hours prior to departure. They will also be required to undergo a PCR test upon arrival in Cyprus and self-isolate in their settlements pending the results.
