Flight bookings forecast hot summers for major destinations in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas.

MANILA, Philippines - The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and its media partner ForwardKeys are expecting a significant increase in international flight bookings worldwide as international travel grows.

Bookings for the 21st WTTC World Summit in Manila have been announced this year, as the epidemic has re-launched the world.

News of a strong recovery highlights a promising outlook for the summer holidays, with sunny and maritime destinations such as the Caribbean and Latin America entering international bookings.

Costa Rica, Aruba, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, all of which rely on international travel, are among the top 20 summer destinations in the country, according to Forwardkiss, a leading travel and analytics firm.

These destinations are the leader in pre-epidemic conservation.

Last year, the industry's gradual recovery slowed significantly due to a significant increase in the number of Omicron infections. However, the future in 2022 is even brighter for positive global reserve data.

WTTC President and CEO Julia Simpson said: “The WTTC 2022 booking data from ForwardKeys is a strong signal of strong recovery in the global travel and tourism sector.

"There are surprising signs of improvement in Asia-Pacific travel as destinations are slowly reopening their borders for visitors, in line with customer demand."

"It is gratifying that Asia is finally opening its doors, leading to a journey back to Asia and the region, which will undoubtedly play a key role in the recovery of the global economy," said Olivier Ponty, vice president of Forwardkiss Insights. .

According to the data, the figures for the first and second quarters of this year, including the United States, Europe and Asia, show a threefold increase in global air ticket bookings compared to last year.

Passengers want to spend more on their travels in 2022 after restrictions were relaxed and demand for luxury cabins increased. Other trends in viewing are increasing last minute bookings.

Another indicator of return to travel is the arrival of Europeans: the number of international arrivals in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 350% over the previous year.

The Asia Pacific region also saw an increase in the first quarter of this year compared to 2021, with bookings in the region increasing by 275%.

In the second quarter, we see a steady increase in recovery, with a strong increase in international reserves growing by 264% per annum.

This acceleration is particularly noticeable in Asia, where travel bans have been lifted. The Philippines, the host country of the WTTC World Summit, the fastest growing destination in Southeast Asia, is up 29% from the first quarter of this year.

Summer travel forecasts have emerged from travel booms in the Caribbean and Latin America, including seven of the top 10 travel destinations.

India and Pakistan are also very popular travel destinations, especially for family and friends.

Meanwhile, destinations such as Europe, Iceland, Greece, Portugal, Spain and France are seeing a big increase, with travel bookings slightly below pre-epidemic levels.

Africa and the Middle East are also among the top 20 countries on the list, with Tanzania, Qatar and Egypt also near pre-epidemic travel levels.

The continued recovery of the Asia-Pacific travel and tourism sector will accelerate as the destinations will gradually reopen in 2022.
